Meet the Teacher
Geraldine Otte is a former art teacher at Vieja Valley Elementary School and, since 2016, has been running her own afterschool and weeklong camp for kids: Artstudio 4 Kids. Before teaching art to children, Geraldine was a fabric and print stylist in the fashion industry for 13 years, directing studios in major companies in New York, Los Angeles, and Mexico City.
Artstudio 4 Kids is excited to offer Art classes for children in grades K-6. Geraldine Otte believes that art is essential in the development of Children and strives to provide small group instruction (up to 12 students per class) in her studio space. The studio has 2 spaces that are used depending on weather: The outdoor studio's bright and inviting space inspires creativity and imagination. When it is too cold or rainy, we conduct classes in our indoor studio, which is also onsite. Students love both! For weekly art camps, we also use the adjacent garden space, for snack and lunch breaks.
Afterschool and morning classes are grouped in grades K-2, and 3-6, providing ample opportunities for children to explore different art media and techniques. The classes engage children in a range of subject matter and a wide range of media. Passionate about art education, Mrs. Otte teaches each class and has extensive experience working with children.
“I believe every child should have the opportunity to explore their creativity through art," says Geraldine Otte, owner of Artstudio 4 Kids. “My classes are designed to be fun and engaging while providing children with a solid foundation in art techniques and skills. The studio's curriculum focuses on media exploration, learning techniques, and engaging subject matter. Children can work with various media, including tempera paint, acrylic paint, watercolors, oil pastels, chalk, collage, mixed media, paper mache, and air dry clay.”
In addition to weekly art classes, Artstudio 4 Kids also offers private group sessions (make your own group), private art parties (kids or adults), family art workshops and weeklong summer or winter art camps.
Located in the Hope Ranch annex or Noleta, Artstudio 4 Kids is easily accessible to families throughout the Santa Barbara, Goleta, and Montecito areas.
